Abraham R. Thomas

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Abraham R. Thomas, 85, of Monastery Avenue died Wednesday at a local nursing home. Abraham was born in Springfield and has lived in West Springfield all his life. He was a retired Helicopter Mechanic and worked for Kaman Aerospace for many years. He served with the United States Air Force after World War II and was involved in the Berlin Airlift. He was a longtime member and treasurer of the Pioneer Valley Radio Control Club. Abraham leaves his wife of 62 years Wilma (Zettl) Thomas; a son Edward and his wife Joanne of Marlow, NH; a daughter Eva Schroeder and her husband Alan of California; his brother George Thomas; two sisters Florence Clemens and Rosemary O'Brien and two grandchildren Aaron and Benjamin. He was predeceased by a brother Victor Thomas. A committal service will be held at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on Monday January 26, 2015 at 10:00am.
