1935 – 2020

West Springfield – Albert Laboranti, 85, died peacefully Thursday afternoon with his loving wife by his side. Albert was born in New York City, son of the late Louis and Maria (Ravetta) Laboranti and has lived in West Springfield most of his life. Al was an offensive lineman on the 1952-53 undefeated Terrier football team that competed in the "Peanut Bowl" in Georgia. He later went on to play football at American International College where he earned his college degree. He served in the United States Army. Al worked at the West Springfield Town Hall for 45 years retiring in 2005 as Director of Public Health. An avid reader, he also loved music and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed vacationing in Aruba and spending winters in Florida with his wife, Ann. He was active in sports in town as a coach for his children's teams and as a member of the Recreation Committee. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. Al was a kindhearted person with a generous spirit who loved to laugh. He leaves his wife Ann M. (Remillard) Laboranti; three children: Albert and his wife Amy, Christopher and his wife Ali, and Regina Laboranti; three step children Stephen Kimball, Kris Trudeau & Karen Larkin; two sisters Ernestine Pugliano and her husband Ted, Angela Latour; ten grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Bay State Hospital for caring for Al in his final days. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Springfield Youth Sports Association, P.O. Box 868 West Springfield, Ma 01090.  A private graveside service will be held at St. Thomas Cemetery. A public service will be held in the future. The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
