Alfred E. Zombik
1919 –2012

Alfred E. Zombik, 92, formerly of Wayside Avenue died Thursday in Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his family. Alfred was born in Chicopee and moved to West Springfield in 1940. He owned and operated Michael's Wholesale Bait Company and also worked at Spaulding in Chicopee. He was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors and dogs. He traveled the world and was a member of the Chicopee Elks Club and various Sportsman Clubs in the area. His wife Irene (Glinka) Zombik died in 1991 and a daughter Arlene Zombik died in 1994. He leaves a son Michael P. Zombik and his wife Carol of West Springfield; a daughter Shirley A. Floyd of Easthampton; two grandchildren Paul and Kimberly Zombik, three great grandchildren Christopher and Katherine Zombik and Nicholas Wyckmans and a nephew Robert Zombik . Besides his wife and daughter Alfred was predeceased by a granddaughter Michelle Hellyar, who died in 2009, a brother Albert, two sisters Josephine Annino and Florence Demski and a nephew Richard Demski. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday at 11 am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday 4:00 - 7:00pm.
