Allan R. Plante, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on August 8, 2026. He was born in Springfield to the late Raymond and Verna (Beauchane) Plante. Allan enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, proudly serving his country as a decorated Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was honored with the Bronze Star for his valor and heroic achievement. After his military service, he was a Lieutenant for the CT Dept. of Corrections. He was an avid gardener and he generously shared his heirloom vegetable crop each year. He is survived by his lifelong partner, Bonnie Kostanski, and her children, Brian (Jacqueline), and Rick; his siblings Norman, Lynne (Ken), Paul (Jeanine), his niece Kathryn, and his nephew and godson, Joseph, as well as his beloved dog Molly. A committal service with full military honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, August 27th at 9:00 am. Arrangements are under the care of the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.
