1931 – 2016

Agawam - Andrew J. Spanos, 84 of Castle Hill Road died Saturday at home surrounded by his loving family. Andrew was born in Astoria, NY, grew up in Springfield and lived in West Springfield 30 years before moving to Agawam 20 years ago. He was a retired 27 year Detective for the Springfield Police Department and also owned and operated the Six Pence/Lemons Bar on Memorial Drive in Chicopee. He was a longtime communicant of St. Luke's Greek Orthodox Church and was a member of the A.H.E.P.A. Society. He served with the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the Springfield Elks Club. His wife Carol A. (Marcil) Spanos died in 1995. He leaves his four daughters and their spouses Julie MacAllister-Bergwell and Bruce of Newburyport, Andrea Miles and Daniel of Wilbraham, Allison Spanos-Gearing and James of Westfield and Karyn Chaoush and Byron of Westfield. He also leaves eight grandchildren Logan, Sydney, Nicole, Caroline, Andrew, Nicholas, Alex and Olivia and a sister Katherine Rodolakis. Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Luke's Greek Orthodox Church on Tuesday at 10:00am for the funeral service followed by burial in Agawam Center Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
