Angel Luis Mulero (Lin), a devoted husband, father and friend, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on May 3, 1926. He was the beloved patriarch of a large family and is immediately survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Andrea Reyes, Madelin Figueroa, Lee Fred Figueroa (Raquel Bermudez), Gilberto Figueroa, Jr. (Anabel Rivera), Lee Roy Figueroa (Maria Figueroa), Noemi Figueroa, Amy Brito, Catherine Farrell, Cassandra Figueroa, Jaycob Brito, Angel Figueroa, Gilberto Figueroa, Sr., and two great-great-grandchildren. Papi Lin wasn't just a father-figure to the children who knew and invariably loved him, he was the cornerstone for an entire neighborhood where even new residents would go out of their way to come to his aid as age limited his independence. Angel moved to the United States from Bayamon, Puerto Rico in 1957. He devoted his life to helping others, always doing whatever he could for anyone in need. He spent his career working in local Spanish markets and was a fixture in Springfield's North End. He was well known in the community as a giving person who could be counted upon for encouragement, whether a kind word, a gentle ear, a warm bed and a hot meal for anyone who needed a helping-hand. Angel met his wife in Puerto Rico more than 60-years ago. They travelled throughout the east coast, settling in Western Massachusetts. They had a devoted marriage that lasted 50-years until she passed away in 2004. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday at 9:00am with Liturgy in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00am followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 6:00 – 9:00pm. Angel he will be dearly missed by all.
