July 25, 1936 – September 26, 2024
Chester, VT – Ann Frances (Cavanaugh) Connors, 88, died peacefully Thursday morning surrounded by her loving family. Ann was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Devlin) Cavanaugh. She was a lifelong resident of West Springfield until she and her husband moved in 2022 to Vermont so they could be closer to their daughters. A 1958 graduate of Westfield State College with a degree in Education, Ann began teaching in West Springfield public schools, where she met the love of her life, fellow teacher, Pete Connors. They married in 1960 and raised their three children Jim, Judy and Kathleen there. Ann was also a beloved teacher at Holy Name School in Springfield and Blessed Sacrament School in Holyoke. She was a talented artist and co-founder of the West Springfield Art Show, with her friends Rita Petersen and Pat Garbacik. As a retired teacher, she trained her dog Duffy to be a pediatric therapy dog, and was active at Tatham School with emergent readers, and at her alma mater, Westfield State, during finals week providing stress relief to students. Ann had many friends she enjoyed getting together with for quilting, painting and weekly breakfasts. She leaves her husband of 64 years, Pete Connors, three children Jim Connors and his wife Kim, Judy Verespy and her husband Mark and Kathleen Karl and her husband Joe: two sisters Veronica Sulborski and her husband Rod and Margaret Superneau. She also leaves her adored grandchildren, Connor, Shane and Molly Verespy, Riley, Paige and Brigid Karl, Kaitlyn and Ryan Connors, and great granddaughter Azaryia Edes. Besides her parents, Ann was predeceased by a brother Tom Cavanaugh and brother-in-law Joe Superneau. Ann also leaves her beloved pets, Nugget and Clancy.
