Obituary

Anne Marie Russo, 75, died on Thursday, March 21, 2019 in Florida. She was born in Springfield on May 2, 1943 to the late John and Mary (Maloney) Donohue. She lived and raised her family in Springfield and later moved to West Springfield. She was a 1961 graduate of Cathedral High School. She received a Bachelor of Science from Our Lady of the Elms and a master degree from American International College. She was a dedicated and adored teacher for 37 years and taught kindergarten at Holy Cross and Brunton Elementary schools, retiring in 2002.  She had a passion for teaching kindergarten and touched the lives of so many who were fortunate enough to have her as a teacher. Her commitment and love for children and teaching was felt by and inspired so many. She was passionate about reading and painting and her talents were cherished by her family and friends.  Her amazing talents and creativity could be seen in her watercolors, knitting, calligraphy and cooking, all of which she took pride in sharing with those she loved. Her strong religious beliefs gave her strength and enabled her to overcome many obstacles. Her faith was evident in the full life she led. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who dedicated her life to her husband and family.  Her greatest love was her daughters Tricia Anne and Joanna, as well as her four grandsons, Thomas, Ryan, John and Matthew. Her love and adoration for them was felt by them each and every day. Anne Marie leaves her beloved husband Thomas of 50 years, daughters Tricia Anne Knapik and husband Daniel of Westfield, Joanna Doyle and husband Thomas of Medway and her four grandsons, Thomas Knapik, Ryan Doyle, John Knapik and Matthew Doyle. Also, her sisters Patricia Agnew and husband James of Ashburn, Virginia, Holly Scortino and husband Richard of Southwick, Claire Krueger and husband Walter of Cheshire, CT, as well as, her sister-in-law Mary Lou Donohue of East Longmeadow, along with several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother John Paul Donohue. The funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 1 st at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield at 10 am. Calling hours at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home will be on Sunday, March 31 st from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anne Marie Russo can be made to the Foundation of Mass. Eye and Ear to support Dr. Deschler's Head and Neck Cancer Research Fund.
