Annette W. Quatrano

1928 – 2021

Annette (Watson) Quatrano, 93, of Bonita Springs, FL, formerly of East Longmeadow, MA, died peacefully at home on Thursday.

A wife, mother, nurse, and businesswoman, Annette was born in Springfield, MA, the daughter of the late William M. Watson and Marjorie (Hackett Watson) Miner. She grew up in West Springfield, was a 1946 graduate of Classical High School and went to work for New England Telephone & Telegraph. She met Angelo M. Quatrano in the South End of Springfield and they fell in love dancing to the big bands of the era. They married in 1950 and lived on Williams Street, Springfield, where they raised their family. Annette won the showcase on the original "Price is Right" which included a role as an extra in the movie Ben Hur filmed in Italy.

She received her nursing diploma from Springfield Hospital School of Nursing in 1966. She was the first married woman to complete the program. She started her career as a Registered Nurse at Baystate Medical Center. She co-owned and managed the Seashell Motel in Misquamicut Beach, RI.

Annette filled her home with love and the artistry of ceramics and afghans. She loved to read a good book, be challenged by a crossword puzzle, sing alto in the choir, answer the Jeopardy! questions before the contestants and play bridge and train with her friends.

After retirement, she lived in Bonita Springs and summered in East Longmeadow. She was a member of the Ladies of Mt. Carmel Society and was the President of the Shorewood Condominium Association.

She was predeceased by her husband Angelo and her brother William Watson. She leaves her three children Mark of Naples, FL, Dr. Martha A.Q. Curley of Bryn Mawr, PA, and Paul of East Longmeadow; their spouses Margaret, Jack and Anthi; six grandchildren, Joseph Curley of Newbury Park, CA, Paul John Curley of Gladwyne, PA, Annette Gour of Agawam, MA, Stella Rivers of Somers, CT, Angelo Quatrano of Allen, TX, and Dr. Nicola Quatrano of Armonk, NY; 10 great grandchildren and three sisters Marjorie Conger of Flower Mound, TX, Doris Early of Hopkinton, MA and the Honorable Catherine Koziol of West Springfield.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Michael's Church, East Longmeadow on Friday, Oct. 15 th at 10:30 a.m. for the Funeral Mass, followed by burial in the St. Michael's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday, Oct 14 th from 4-7 p.m. Please note, COVID-19 restrictions will be followed, and masks are required.
