1911-2010
WEST SPRINGFIELD-Antonio "Tony" D'Orazio, 99, died Tuesday in a local nursing home. He was born in Castelmauro, Italy, came to this country in 1916 and has lived in West Springfield since 1944. He owned and operated Tony's Shoe Repair for many years. He was a longtime communicant and sexton at St. Ann's Church and was a charter and founding member of West Springfield UNICO. Tony was also a member of the FORM Club. He leaves four children, Jean Robinson of West Springfield, Ann Maccarini of East Longmeadow, Pat Haluch of St. Augustine, FL and Anthony D'Orazio of St. Augustine, FL, a sister Anita Garone of West Springfield, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild and his faithful friends, Arnold and Alda Boido. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Mastroianni, his son Michael, his son-in-laws Stewart Robinson and Fred Haluch, a sister and three brothers. The funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11 am in St. Frances Church followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the Mass on Saturday at West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home from 9-10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children or to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church.
