WEST SPRINGFIELD-Antoinette B. (Christopher) Circosta, 93, passed away with dignity and grace on Friday, January 2 at Armbrook Village in Westfield. She was born in Agawam on November 24, 1921, a snowy Thanksgiving day, to ltalian immigrant parents. She was the youngest of eight sisters and two brothers. Ann grew up on a farm where she spent her days watching chicks hatch and eating berries and peaches fresh off the trees. She graduated from Agawam High School in 1939 and declined a full-paid scholarship to college so that she could continue helping on Christopher Farm. Later, her primary job was in the credit department at Sears & Roebuk, which she held for 30+ years. She also worked at the Springfield Armory, helped her husband with an awning business, accounting business, and landlord duties, helped her brother at Christopher Farms, worked at the Big E, and volunteered at Mercy Hospital. She was a member of the Springfield Women's Club, the Italian Women's Club, and a communicant of St. Ann's Church in W. Springfield. Antoinette lived in West Springfield for most of her adult life where she and her husband raised two children. Her greatest joy was her family, but she also loved growing vegetables in her garden, feeding the birds, and watching the Red Sox or golf on tv. She also enjoyed traveling to Italy twice with her sisters where she even got to see the Pope. Antoinette was an extremely strong woman. Although in her life she incurred many losses, she always made it through and had a smile on her face. She will always be remembered as a kind-hearted, generous woman who loved people and animals and rarely complained. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Circosta, her daughter Rena (Circosta) Douglas, and her son Frank Circosta, Jr. She is survived by her loving grandchildren, Greg Douglas and his wife Debbie of Huntington, Sarah (Douglas) Rondinelli and her husband Nick of Southwick, her son-in-law Dennis Douglas of W.Springfield, and three great-grandsons Adam and Matthew Douglas and Leo Rondinelli. We would like to thank all the caring nurses and aides at Life Choice Hospice, Caring Solutions Home Health Agency, and especially the wonderful staff at Armbrook Village, Antoinette's home for the past year and a half, for their exceptional support and compassionate care. There will be a calling hour at 10am followed by a memorial service at 11am at Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main St., W.Springfield, MA on Wednesday, January 7.
