Araxie Bagian
1934 – 2015

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Araxie "Roxie" (Mahakian) Bagian, 81, died Wednesday surrounded by her loving family. Roxie was born in Chelsea, MA to John and Hasmig (Essegian) Mahakian. After marriage, she and her husband Paul moved to West Springfield. Roxie worked for 33 years at Tapestry Health in Springfield where she found great joy in helping others. While raising her three daughters, Roxie also volunteered at McDonough Elementary School. In addition to volunteering, Roxie enjoyed the beach, traveling and golf. She actually has a "hole-in-one" to her credit. She was a kind and loving person who was a second mom to many. Her greatest joy was being with her family. She leaves her husband of 61 years, Paul Bagian; three daughters Luanne Miles, Paula Bagian, Lisa "Sose" Bagian and two brothers Ira and John Mahakian. She was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Nickerson and Agnes Sarmanian. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Sunday from 3:00 – 6:00pm. A private committal service will be held Monday in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
