East Longmeadow – Arlene "Bunny" (Haskins) Howard, 77, died Thursday in a local nursing home surrounded by her loving family. Arlene was born in Tewksbury and has lived in West Springfield most of her life. She worked as a Nurse's Aide at Baystate Medical Center, Providence and Mercy Hospital and later retired from Southern Florida University where she was the switchboard operator. A caring mother and grandmother, she loved having her family around. She leaves three sons and their spouses Carl and Melinda Howard, Glenn and Diane Howard and Robert and Marilyn Howard Jr.; five grandchildren Craig Gaudreault, Candace and Kate Howard, Christina Roberts, John and Douglas Robbins. She also leaves eight great grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Sunday, June 9th at 12:30pm. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral service from 10:00am – 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Care Alternatives Hospice, 100 Locke Drive, Marlborough, MA 01752.
