Obituary

Armando Cabrera Rios, 94, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at home.  Born in Comerio, Puerto Rico, son of the late Alonso Cabrera and Herminia Rios Berrios, he moved to Springfield in 1959.  He had worked for five years for Jahn Foundry and previously worked for H. B. Smith Boilers in Westfield and as a social worker.  He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.  He leaves his wife of sixty-seven years, Alejandrina Fuentes Alicea Cabrera, five sons, Juan Alberto Cabrera Fuentes of Alabama, Luis A. Cabrera Fuentes, Jr., of West Springfield, Jose Antonio Cabrera Fuentes of Dallas, TX, David Rivera, Antonio Cabrera of Springfield, five daughters, Maria Landrau of Springfield, Sol Milagros Cabrera Fuentes of Springfield, Carmen Ivette Cabrera of Wilbraham, Raquel Cabrera of Agawam, Leonides Cabrera of Atlanta, GA, two brothers, Marciano Cabrera Rios of Florida, Angel Luis Cabrera Rios of Puerto Rico, three sisters, Migdalia Cabrera of New Jersey, Amelia Cabrera and Juana Cabrera both of Puerto Rico, twenty grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.  The funeral will be Monday at 9am from the Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield, with a Mass at 10 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 40 Waverly St., Springfield.  Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Calling hours are Sunday from 2-5pm.
