Barbara A. Wright

1934 – 2019

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Barbara A. (Marsters) Wright, 85, died peacefully Monday evening surrounded by her loving family.  Barbara was born in Jamaica Plain, MA, grew up in Pittsfield and lived in West Springfield and Otis for most of her life.  She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, where she played field hockey and softball.  She received her Nursing Degree from NE Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at the former Wesson Hospital.  Barbara was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was an avid Red Sox fan.  She was very active with her son's youth hockey, serving as the West Springfield Youth Hockey Treasurer, GSJHL Statistician, USA Hockey Registrar and was inducted into the Massachusetts Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.  She leaves her husband of 59 years Allen T. Wright; six children Richard and his fiancé Karen Davies, Charles, Susan L. Wright-Taylor and her husband Michael, Robert and his wife Patricia, Nancy Daly and her husband John Daly Jr. and Mark and his wife Leslie.  She also leaves her brother Richard Marsters; seven grandchildren Joshua Robbins, Derek, Jacob, Colin, Grace, Evelyn Wright, John Daly III and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday at 10:00am followed by burial in Hill Cemetery, Blandford.  Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wright Fund Hockey Scholarship, 23 South Main Street, Ashburnham, MA 01430 or to the Shriner's Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
