Obituary

Barbara A. (Murray) Bengle, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, Barbara spent most of her life in West Springfield before recently moving to Agawam. A proud graduate of West Springfield High School, she was voted "Most Likely to Succeed," a distinction that reflected her quiet strength, determination, and generosity of spirit throughout her life. Barbara devoted her life to her family. A loving and selfless stay-at-home mother, she raised nine children in West Springfield, creating a home filled with care, patience, and unconditional love. Her family was always her greatest joy and highest priority. In 1955, Barbara married her beloved husband, Emile Bengle, and together they shared a deep commitment to service and community. They were actively involved with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, The Open Pantry of West Springfield, the West Springfield Parish and Interfaith Association, the Ludlow Collaboration of Special Needs Children, and embraced the Montessori "way of life," valuing independence, compassion, and respect for every child's natural development. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Emile in 2010, as well as by her sons Daniel and Lawrence. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Joseph, Jack, Richard Murray, and Mary Martin. She leaves behind her children William, James, Michael, Robert and his wife Linda, Mathew Bengle, Patricia Saimeri and her husband Dan, Kathleen Neilsen and her late husband John Tisdell, who will forever cherish her love and guidance. Barbara also leaves fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.
