West Springfield – Barbara (Tadie) DeMaio, 86, of Houston Road died Thursday August 14th. Barbara, daughter of Joe and Blanche Tadie, and beloved wife of Alfred DeMaio of Palmer, MA, was born in West Springfield and lived in the community all her life. Barbara was a loving and supportive Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She delighted in hearing about the escapades of her grandchildren Jamie, Adam, Kyle, Aaron and Maria, and her great grandchildren Ethan, Emily, Kate, Macy and Raymond. Barbara had a flair for style, loved antiques and was a season ticket holder for many years at the Majestic Theater. Barbara worked as a secretary at Springfield Technical Community College, and Holyoke Community College where she eventually retired. Barbara and her husband Alfred were members of the West Springfield Senior Center and parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church. She leaves a son Louis DeMaio and his wife Linda of Center Sandwich, NH; two daughters Kathleen Korbowski and her husband Adam of Wilbraham, and Denise Piotrowski and her husband Paul of West Springfield, as well as five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Curran-Jones Funeral Home in West Springfield on Friday, August 22, at 11 am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10-11 am.
