Barbara M. Duda, 77, of South Hadley, passed away peacefully on September 22nd surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Phyllis Jezouit and was predeceased by her husband Richard in 1991. She was a devoted mother to her four children and always said that being a Mother was her "favorite" job. She leaves behind her son, John Duda and daughter-in-law, Susan, her daughter Catherine Allen, her son Thomas Duda and daughter Christine Phillips. She loved being a grandmother to Victoria Allen, Julia and Sam Duda, Andrew and Kate Phillips and loved her "favorite brother" Peter Jezouit, his wife Cooky and their children, Allen Jezouit and Susan Davignon. She was so proud to be a 1957 graduate of Chicopee High School and 1960 Springfield Hospital School of Nursing graduate. She was a surgical nurse at Baystate and also did private duty nursing while raising her family. Barbara was an active volunteer in the South Hadley school system throughout her children's schooling. Barbara was a woman of strong faith and cherished being a communicant of St Patrick's Church in South Hadley. She was an active member of the Ladies Guild and was the deserving recipient of the Martha Mary Award which recognizes selfless giving. She believed in always giving more than you take and giving without expectations. She was a lifelong fan of Boston sports teams and Duke Basketball. She loved Frank Sinatra, musicals, reading and just being with her friends and family. She instilled in her family the importance of honoring their Polish heritage. Barbara will be dearly missed by so many people. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 28th at 10 a.m. at St Patrick's Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 27th from 4pm to 7 pm at Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley.
