Barbara L. Guarnera

1964 – 2023

West Springfield – Barbara Lee (Johnson) Guarnera, 59, died peacefully Tuesday at home.  Barbara was born in Holyoke and grew up in West Springfield, graduating from West Springfield High School in 1982. She worked many years as a childcare provider and a server at IHOP to pay her way through college.  She graduated Cum Laude with a BA from Westfield State and earned her Master of Arts in Religion from Liberty University.  She was well loved as the First Grade Teacher at Pioneer Valley Christion Academy.  A longtime member of the West Springfield Covenant Community Church, where she was active with the VBS program, the Ladies Group and many more committees.  She leaves her husband Michael Aubrey; five children Bethany Savio and her husband Dominic, Johnathan Aubrey, Zachary Guarnera and his wife Danielle, Joseph Aubrey and Chad Roberts; grandchildren Lucas and Carter.  She also leaves her mother Susan (Brassard) Fish, sisters Laura Lopez and her husband Daniel and Suzanne Fish.  Barbara was also Aunt to Autumn Leshinski, Emma and Doug Fiala, Katelyn Finnegan, Allison Torres and Mark Bienia.  Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Covenant Community Church, 112 Amostown Road, West Springfield on Friday, January 5thfrom 4:00 – 7:00pm.  The funeral service will be held at the Church on Saturday, January 6th at 11:00am.  The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
