Southwick - Barbara Ann Hellstein of 1 Saw Mill Park in Southwick, passed away Friday, August 5th at Bay State Hospital at the age of 80. Barbara was born on December 7th 1930 in Springfield, MA. She attended the University of Michigan and Westfield State College where she earned a Bachelors degree on Elementary Education. She married Richard Hellstein in 1955 and resided in West Springfield. Later in life, they had two children, Mark and Cynthia. Barbara was a wonderful elementary school teacher and taught for 35 years within the West Springfield public school system. She was an active member of the Appalachian Mountain club and also the Retired Teachers Association. Barbara was a beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Barbara's funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10 am in Our Lady of the Lake Church in Southwick. Burial will be private. Calling hours at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home will be Monday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stanley Park, 400 Western Ave., Westfield, MA 01085.
