Barbara J. (Nowill) Malandrakis of Little River Road, Westfield and formerly of West Springfield entered peacefully into the presence of the Lord, Saturday February 8th. She was born in Springfield to the late Dorothy Ellen Wyman Nowill and the late Harold Nowill. As a longtime member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Barbara used her God given talents to serve others. She was a member of the Friends of Sturbridge and Storrowtown Village where she served as a docent for school programs, volunteered her time making period clothes and hats as well as teaching others. She was also a former Girl Scout leader, Past President of the Mittineague School P.T.A., and loved to sew, paint, garden, travel and spend time with her ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren at her cottage in Cape Cod. She was a devoted wife for 47 yrs to her husband Anthony (Tony) Malandrakis until his death in 1997 and a loving mother to her three daughters; Holly Brown wife of Carl of Gainesville, VA, Gail Hansmann wife of James of Agawam and Beth Deluca wife of Jack of Hendersonville, N.C. She leaves a brother Gregory Nowill of Russell and was predeceased by two brothers Harold (Curt) and Ronald Nowill. Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 14 at Curran-Jones in West Springfield from 4:00-7:00 pm. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday at Noon with Liturgy in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Elm Street, West Springfield at 1:00pm, Burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
