Barbara J. (Lenois) Merola, 94, died peacefully Sunday surrounded by her loving family.  Barbara was born and raised in Springfield, lived in West Springfield most of her life before moving to Wilbraham 15 years ago.  Her husband Nicholas A. Merola died in 1997.  She leaves three children, Nicholas E. Merola, Deborah Counos, and Lisa Merola; two sisters Carol Tranghese and Judy Fredey; five grandchildren, Alicia and Nicole Merola, Jessie and John Counos and Kasey Colter and eight great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her daughter Pam Merola in 2013. The funeral will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Friday, August 22nd at 11:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.  The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
