Barbara A. Rattelle

1940- 2020

Springfield- Barbara A. (Paquette) Rattelle, passed away Thursday, May 7 ^th at Baystate Medical Center.  Born and raised in Springfield, Barbara raised her own family in Springfield as well.  She worked at New England School Supply for many years. A very large part of her life was her proud and dedicated service of more than 40 years to the V.F. W. Auxiliary.  Barbara worked tirelessly for veteran's causes and served the V.F.W. as Auxiliary President for three years, District President for two years and Chief of Staff for three years.  She served in several other capacities over the course of her 40-year involvement.  Barbara was predeceased by sons Paul J. Rattelle in 2017 and Mark A Rattelle in 2007.  She is survived by her life partner, Alan Descoteaux.  Also surviving her are sons Alan Rattelle, Gordon Strobel and his wife Rose, daughters Donna Rattelle, Darcy Dineen and Suzanne Gibbs; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  Due to Covid-19 all arrangements are private, and the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  Donations in Barbara's name may be made to the D'Amour Cancer Center, 3350 Main Street Springfield, 01107 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, 01104.
