Beatrice R. Cowell

1934 – 2019

West Springfield – Beatrice R. (Turgeon) Cowell, 85, died peacefully Friday evening, surrounded by her loving family.  Beatrice was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, grew up in Easthampton, and has lived in West Springfield since 1958.  She worked at Columbia Bike Company for many years, and also as a Home Health Aid.  She loved music, singing, cooking, and tennis.  Her husband, of nearly 50 years, James Cowell died in 2006.  She leaves five children Carol Bower and her husband Kenny, Thomas Cowell, Daniel Cowell, Andrew Cowell and his wife Jennifer, and Larry Cowell and his wife Lisa.  She also leaves a brother David Turgeon, seven grandchildren Daniel and his wife Taylor, Kristen, Thomas, Stephen, Sara, Jacob and Maia and a great granddaughter Kloe.   Besides her husband, Beatrice was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Maryann Cowell.  Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  Her committal service will be held in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery Friday at 10:00am.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriner's Hospital or Baystate Hospice.
