Obituary

Born June 27, 1923, the daughter of Alexandré & Alice Beaulieu. Bea passed away peacefully on March 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Irene & Blanche and her lifelong best friend Rita McKay. She was also  predeceased by the love of her life Ted after 53 years of marriage, but her greatest love was her love of God. She & Ted lived in the times of the Greatest Generation and was the devoted mother of 12 children: Marty & Judy Smith, Gary & Kristine Smith, Greg & Sharon Smith, Laurie & Fran Wheeler, Bruce Smith & JoeAnn, Brian Smith & Julie Simpson, Susan Smith & Doug Chapin, Scott Smith, Judy & Dave Weaver, Peter & Deb Smith, Amy & Jack MacRae,  Sarah Smith & Robert Brodeur. Bea also leaves her 33 grandchildren: Krista Verdi, Kevin Smith, Cara Loomis, Heather Gasher, Zachary and Jared Smith, Jason, Greggie, Iris, Holly and Sam Smith, A.J. Wheeler, Ashley Keane, Nick and Brittani Smith, Patrick, Abigail and Anna Smith, John and Brian Cotton, Jacqueline Conlin, Jesse, Jake and Joseph Weaver, Brett, Matthew, Carly and Makenzie Smith, Amanda, Michael and Matthew MacRae, Stefan Freeman and Thea DiStefano. Bea also leaves 23 great grandchildren. Born and raised in Springfield, Mass, she attended and was graduated from Cathedral High School and Bay Path College. After raising her family she was employed at the West Springfield High School and later for The Diocese of Springfield - Chalice of Salvation. She loved Fall soccer, knitting & crocheting in the Winter, Spring birds & flowers and especially enjoyed Summers at the beach. There were many family gatherings and holiday traditions. BeBe lived a fulfilled, blessed life and words from our family cannot express our sorrow and how much we all loved her. We will miss her. All are welcome to her Funeral Mass to be held on Wed. March 8 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield.  Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Curran-Jones Funeral Home - West Springfield, has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield.
