Benjamin H. Fish, Jr.

W. Spfd.- Benjamin H. Fish Jr., 87 yrs. of age passed peacefully on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Ben was born in W. Spfd., Ma. to Benjamin H. Fish, Sr. and Ruth (Heywood) Fish. He was predeceased by his wife Anna (Wilson) Fish, his daughter Elaine Waterman and his brother Robert Fish. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister Blanche Withee and her husband Donald, and brother Russell Fish, daughters Cynthia Fish and Deborah Senk and her husband Richard.
He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Michelle Duga and her husband Steven, Nicole Habiger, Samantha Foucher, Jenny Lynn Weber and her husband John Paul, Jake Waterman, Juli Ann Gauthier and her husband Rene', and Eric Freniere. He will be missed greatly by his great-grandchildren, Andrew Braman, Benjamin and Joshua Duga, Mia Johnson, Lilli-Anna Weber and soon to be born Blake Gauthier and also many loving nephews, nieces and friends.
Ben lived for the past several years with daughter Debbie, her husband Richard, granddaughter Samantha and great grandson Andrew. Four generations that lived, laughed and loved together.
Neighbors Jane and James Mack were crucial in helping with his care, along with the great people at hospice, especially Josie and Jody who became like family over the past year.
He worked at Monsanto for 43 years as a millwright, loved acting in the Chalkliners club and was an avid sportsman. More importantly he served as a combat medic Sergeant during World War II with the Third U.S. Army Division under General George Patton. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 am at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by burial in Springfield Street Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 4-7 pm.
