Bernadette A. Rivet

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Bernadette A. (Vanasse) Rivet, 89, died Saturday in Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her family. Bernadette was born and raised in Easthampton and has lived in West Springfield for the past 15 years. She was a licensed Hairdresser and also worked for the Springfield Newspaper until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of the Lamplighters Square Dancing Club in Agawam and was an avid Springfield Elks youth hockey fan. She was a loving mother and grandmother who help raise four separate generations of her family. Her husband Lawrence Rivet died in 1997. She leaves three children Norman Lapine of Livingston, TX, Patricia LaBranche of West Springfield and George Lapine of Phoenix, AZ; a brother Norman Vanasse of Florida; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and a great great grandson. A committal service will be held in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
