Bernard Victor D'Orazio of West Springfield passed away May 2, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center.  Bernard was born in Burlington, Vermont and was the son of the late Victor and Marianna D'Orazio.  He grew up in Burlington and was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Burlington.  He was active in sports and was the Captain of the football team.  After High School, he served 6 years in the United States Navy.  He attended the University of Vermont and worked as a General Agent of the State Mutual Life Insurance Company in Burlington.  He relocated to Springfield in 1961, where he was the General Agent of State Mutual Life and National Life of Vermont.  In 1970, he and his wife, Janet started Baystate Realty Company in Longmeadow.  He was a member of the Mass. Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors.  He was active in Real Estate until 2013.  He was a longtime member of the Mittineague Congregational Church.  Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janet (Simpson) D'Orazio.  He also leaves his sisters Fioretta Masler, Concetta Philion, Francesca Weber, Gloria Bucella; his brothers Silvio and Robert; sisters-in-law Betty Blake, Beverly Coolbeth, Joanne D'Orazio, Susanna D'Orazio and many loving nieces and nephews.  A memorial service will be held at the Mittineague Congregational Church, Friday May 16, 2014 at 11:30 followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.  The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parish Cupboard, 1023 Main Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.
