Bernard M. Paine Jr., 79, died suddenly Tuesday morning surrounded by his loving family.  Bernie was born and raised in Springfield and has lived in Agawam for the past 58 years.  He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Post Office 30 years before retiring in 2005.  He was a member of the MAWAGA Sporting Club, the West Springfield Knights of Columbus and was a Gate Captain at the Big E for many years.  He leaves his wife of 58 years Marcia A. ( Chapman) Paine; two sons Michael and his fiancé Blanca and Kevin, his daughter in Law Nanette; two grandsons Devin Paine and Brandon Redmond. He also leaves his canine companion Brady.  A funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church Saturday, Feb 20 ^th at 10:00am.  The Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
