Obituary

Betty L. (King) Bava, 99, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 25, 2024. Born in Springfield, daughter of the late Leland and Gertrude (Sussman) King, she lived in Suffield and East Longmeadow before moving to Feeding Hills many years ago.  She was a 1942 graduate of Commerce High School in Springfield and was the accounts payable clerk for the Agawam School System.  Betty was a Navy Waves veteran of World War II, and a member of Feeding Hills Congregational Church.  Her husband, James T. Bava died in 1976, a daughter, Gail K. Podworski died in 2003 and a sister, Leila Ellefsen in 2017.  She leaves a son and his wife, Thomas K. and Anita Bava of Naples, FL, a daughter and her husband, Christine L. and Thomas Chapman of Feeding Hills, a sister, Ruth Gaines of East Longmeadow, seven grandchildren, Karon Paulhus, Jamie Podworski, Amy Neal, Steven Bava, David Bava, T. J. Chapman, Jeffrey Chapman, and nine great-grandchildren.  Betty's family would like to thank Olivia and the staff at Agawam East for the care give to Betty. The funeral will be Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 10am at the Feeding Hills Congregational Church, 21 North Westfield St., followed by burial in Springfield Street Cemetery, both in Feeding Hills. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street.  Donations may be made to Rett Syndrome at www.rettsyndrome.org
