Betty Kidder
Spring
June 9, 1935 – September 26, 2025
Betty (Kidder) Spring, 90, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 26, 2025 at home. Born in Bradford, VT, daughter of the late Lloyd P. and Mable A. (Richardson) Kidder, she grew up in Bradford and moved to Deerfield, MA in the late 1950's. Betty later moved to Springfield, where she went to Secretarial School, then worked for MassMutual.
She met her late husband, William H. Spring at Old First Church in Springfield, where she sang in the church's choir. Bill and Betty were married on Dec. 29, 1956, in the church where they met. They first lived in Springfield, moving to Feeding Hills in 1962, where they raised their family. Betty was active at Agawam Congregational Church, was a member of their choir, an active member of the Daughters of the Nile, and formerly an active member of the Agawam Jaycee-ettes. She was also the accounting and bookkeeping support to her and Bill's commercial real estate business. Her husband, William H. Spring died on July 18, 2022.
She leaves three daughters, Cynthia Spring St. John and her husband, Jeffrey of East Longmeadow, Sherri Spring Montagna of Wilbraham, Kimberly J. Dotiwalla and her husband, James of West Springfield, a brother, Byron Kidder of Bradford, VT, two sisters, Linda Minickiello of Keene, NH, Donna Wing of Bradford, VT, five grandchildren, Audrey St. John, Michael Montagna, Gregory St. John, Victoria Montagna-Kostopoulos, Alexandria Dotiwalla, a great-grandson, Theo Kostopoulos and nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by two sisters, Freda (Kidder) Kingsbury and Joyce (Kidder) Carbee.
The funeral will be Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11am at the Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main Street followed by burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield. Calling hours are Thursday at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Shriners Children's Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or to Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., Agawam, MA 01001.
