Betty (Kirwan) Zimmerman, 89, died Saturday in Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Holyoke, grew up in Chicopee, graduating from Chicopee High in 1942 and has lived in South Hadley since 1955. She was a longtime member of the former South Hadley Congregational Church. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family would like to express their thanks to Western Mass Elder Care. She was predeceased by her husband Carl C. Zimmerman Sr. in 2011. She leaves three sons, James of Palm Harbor, FL, Douglas of Granby and Carl Jr. of South Hadley, two daughters Linda Gendron and her husband Ronald of South Hadley and Jean Zimmerman and her husband Brian DeLancey of Mt. Kisco, NY, a sister Alice Beaton of Colorado Springs, CO, five grandchildren Ronald Gendron, Amy Cormier, Carolyn O'Connell, Kristen DeLancey and Brianna Zimmerman and seven great grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 am at the CURRAN-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley followed by committal services at the Mas Vets Memorial Cemetery.
