Chicopee – Calvin S. Phillips Jr., 64, died peacefully Saturday at his home. Calvin was born in Springfield and lived in Agawam most of his life before moving to Chicopee 15 years ago. He was one of the founding employees of the Genetics Lab at Baystate Medical Center and has worked as a geneticist there for 30 years. He leaves his children Jessica Merriam and her husband Brian of Westfield; Christopher Phillips and his partner Russell of Enfield. He also leaves his former wife Angela (Esposito) Phillips; a sister Jerene (Taylor) Kruszewski and her husband Stanley; a nephew Erik and his wife Valerie; two grandsons, Cameron and Joseph, and many friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00pm . The funeral and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
