Carmen Maria Berrios, 79, of West Springfield, MA was called home on Friday, March 29, 2019. She passed into eternal life surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico on November 3, 1939. She was a beloved daughter of the late Gregorio and Zoila Gonzalez. She was raised in Puerto Rico and lived in Springfield and Southwick before moving to West Springfield, where she lived the rest of her life. She owned and operated Berrios Market and Deli for thirty years and previously worked at National Metals Industries, Spaulding, and Carando Foods. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her family and reading the Bible. She was a communicant of All Souls Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and abuela. She will be missed by her husband of fifty-seven years, Angel L. Berrios and her seven loving children; Angelina Garcia and her late husband Ismael of West Springfield, Rosa Rodriguez and her husband Luis of Springfield, Cruzita Rivera and her partner Alejandro Morales of Springfield, Josephine Gonzalez de Pileggi of West Springfield, Blanca Berrios of West Springfield, Angel L. Berrios Jr. and his wife Jeanette of Springfield, and Joram Berrios and his wife Norma of Springfield. She also leaves her fifteen beloved grandchildren, Ismael Garcia Jr., Daniel Garcia, Carmen A. Garcia, Rosa Pion, Carmen L. Rodriguez, Carlos A. Rivera Jr., Carmen L. Rivera, Giancarlo Pileggi, Veronica Pileggi, Jessica Berrios, Jerry Berrios, Christina Berrios, Sabrina Berrios, Samantha Berrios, Carmen A. Berrios; seventeen great grandchildren; seven siblings, Margarita Martinez and her husband Jaime, the late Gregorio Gonzalez Jr., Antonia Perez, Amparo Colon and her partner Angel Roque, Luis Gonzalez, and Jimmy Gonzalez. She also leaves many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended members of the Gonzalez and Berrios Families. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral home on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. with liturgy at Sacred Heart Church at 10:00 a.m. Followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery . Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
