Carol Ann
Salamon
January 3, 1943 – June 6, 2026
Carol A. (Frodyma) Salamon, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Born in Springfield, daughter of the late John and Adele (Tenczar) Frodyma, she was a lifelong resident of West Springfield, growing up on Bosworth Street, and was a 1961 graduate of West Springfield High School and went on to receive her associate’s degree from Holyoke Community College.
While her early career was spent in various office settings, the majority of her professional life was dedicated to the family business. Carol was an incredibly hard worker who took great pride in serving as the bookkeeper for Salamon Flooring, working up until the year she passed.
Carol lived a life full of love, humor, and selflessness, always putting her family before herself. She was a devoted, patient, and kind mother, never missing a practice or game, helping with homework, modeling, and instilling hard work & kindness into her kids.
She had many wonderful lifelong friends from school days, tennis and skiing adventures, and neighbors and friends from town and Paucatuck Park, where the family spent many memorable summers swimming, playing tennis, and the parents socialized while the kids hung out with their friends.
Carol was affectionately known as "Mammy" to her grandchildren. She made every moment with them special, memorable, and filled with her famous back rubs that the grandkids lined up to receive. She especially loved spending time at the family's second home in West Dennis on Cape Cod. She would march a whole crew of kids down Main St. in West Dennis early morning to get breakfast at Dunkin Donuts while the parents slept in. She was always the life of the party, making fast friends with her Cape neighbors and even starting up an annual neighborhood 4th of July parade. She and her friends inspired all the neighborhood grandchildren to decorate their bikes and themselves with streamers, face paint, drums, and noisemakers, while the adults lined the streets in their chairs to watch. Known for her lighthearted, playful nature, if you suddenly felt a cold ice cube run down your back or something thrown at you, you knew Carol was close by. Her family is profoundly grateful for the beautiful memories, stories, and laughter that will live in their hearts forever.
Carol was the loving wife of Mitchell J. Salamon for 62 years. She leaves her son, Mark Salamon and his wife Laura; and her two daughters, Karen Salamon and Susan Thibodeau and her husband Todd, all of West Springfield. She was the cherished grandmother of seven adored grandchildren: Brianna Salamon, Nathan Salamon, Xan Salamon, Jacob Thibodeau, Beau Salamon, Kelly Davis, and Tessa Schrader. She was predeceased by her beloved grandchild, Kyle Thibodeau.
The funeral will be Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 10am from the Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street followed by a Mass in St. Thomas Church at 11. The burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
