Carolyn B. Callahan

1939 – 2019

West Springfield – Carolyn B. Callahan, 80, died Sunday in a local nursing home after a brief illness.  Carolyn was born in Springfield, June 18, 1939, daughter of Edward and Antoinette (Juzba) Briggs.  She attended West Springfield schools and has lived in the town for the past 35 years.  Previously, she had worked as a Bank Teller for Westfield Savings Bank, a librarian for the Springfield newspapers and in the admissions office at Western New England College.  She also was active with the Council on Aging in West Springfield.  Carolyn was predeceased by her husband Donald Callahan and leaves a son Daniel, and his wife Juli, of Baltimore, Maryland; a daughter Maureen Callahan of Wilbraham; two brothers, Thomas Briggs of Ludlow and Edward Briggs, of West Springfield; and three grandchildren.  Family and friends are invited to meet for the Funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Friday, Dec. 20 ^th at 10:00 followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.  The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Life Care, 2112 Riverdale Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.
