Obituary

Carolyn "Connie" (Shields) Daggett passed away at home with family by her side. She spent her final days surrounded by what mattered to her most; her seven loving children. She is the daughter of the late Florence and Charles Shields, the late founders of the West Springfield Landmark "The Donut Dip". Connie loved life and lived every moment to the fullest. She loved the outdoors, the beach, and sporting events. She loved to laugh and loved to help others around her enjoy life. With her cheery brown eyes and an infectious smile, she lit up every room she entered. Every day was a great day for Connie Daggett, and her optimistic attitude was contagious and brought happiness to all around her. A lifelong resident of West Springfield, Connie was a graduate of West Springfield High School and Bay Path College. Connie was first employed by the Springfield Rotary and then went on to serve in several capacities for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company. Connie was predeceased by her loving brother Robert, her sister Alma and her extraordinary nine-year-old grandchild Griffin Keough, who passed away during the 2011 Thanksgiving Day holiday. She is survived by her brother Richard, sister Maureen, and their loving children. Connie's life was dedicated to her children, her most prized possessions. She sacrificed everything to provide them with a safe and loving home. Her impact on their lives can never be measured or repaid, and her life lessons will never be forgotten. Her presence and smile will forever be in the hearts of her children and their families, Michael (Janice), Susan (Scott), Tim (Deanne), Sharon (Frank), David (Deana), Daniel, Sheila (Matt), and her 11 grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 am from West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Springfield at 10:00 am. Burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. For more information please go to curranjones.com.
