Obituary

Carolyn Napolitan

1927- 2017

West Springfield - Carolyn "Lynn" Napolitan died on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the age of 90. Born in Westfield, February 19, 1927, to parents Raymond and Lena Carr, she grew up in Southwick on a family farm with siblings Harry and Grace. In her early years, she was an active member of the 4H club and graduated from Westfield High School in 1945. She was courted by her future husband Richard "Dick" Napolitan and enjoyed fun times roller skating at Babbs at the Congamond Lake. She married Dick on August 17, 1949 and was blessed with 63+ years of marriage. She retired from the Town of West Springfield after 19 years in the Department of Public Works. Prior to her illness, Lynn was a regular at Bingo, enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino, and loved to eat out at restaurants. In earlier years, she enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid Red Sox fan. Her greatest love, though, was for family and family gatherings. She was a kind and generous person and will be remembered for her unique personality, small in physical stature but full of spunk. She was predeceased by her brother Harry Carr of New York City, sister Grace Janik of Agawam, MA, and husband Dick. She leaves her son David and daughter-in-law Debbie of Fishkill, NY; two grandsons Christopher and Nicholas, whom she adored, of New York City, along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
