Cassandra (Bonatakis) Sklias was called home on April 4th, 2014. She was born at home in 1927, (on Silver Street) in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she spent her childhood before relocating to New York City, where she met and married her beloved husband of 57 years, Michel (pronounced Michael). They resided in NYC for the next 9 years before moving to their home in Plainview, Long Island where they lived for 17 years. They relocated to Sunrise Florida where she remained until returning to Springfield due to illness. Cassandra enjoyed life and regarded age as "just a number". She loved fashion, dancing, singing, reading, traveling to new places and was always ready for a party. Of the various jobs that she held during her life, her favorite was assisting her customers at Sondro's of Inverrary Boutique, in Lauderhill, FL. where she worked for many years as a retail manager and stylist. Her incredibly festive spirit will long be remembered by all who knew her. Cassandra is survived by her brother Charles Bonatakis, her daughters and sons in law, Anita and Stephen Theoharis, Connie and James Ross and, Denise and Jeffrey Roszkowski as well as her grandchildren. She will forever be fondly remembered as "Yiyia" by Michael Theoharis, Matthew Wood and his wife Michele, Joseph Wood, and Nicholas Roszkowski. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by her husband Mike and three siblings, Theodore Bonatakis, Christine Tountas and Sophie Boukas. A funeral service will take place at noon, on Friday, April 11, 2014 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 St. George Road, Springfield, MA with calling hours from 11am-12noon at the church. The burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
