With her loving family by her side, Catherine June Napolitan, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center. A lifelong resident of West Springfield, Catherine "Kitty" was born to the late Lillian (Warner) and Salvatore Basilone. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vincent J. Napolitan, who she greatly missed. Catherine will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Thomas, John and Robert and two daughters, Shirley Murray and her husband William and Kathy Flowers and her husband James. In addition to her children, Catherine leaves two sisters, Rose Clark also of West Springfield and Shirley Meyer of Missouri. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Shawn and Joseph Berry, Jennifer Berry Cauley, Shannon and Katie Flowers. She was the proud Great Grandmother (GG) to Dylan Berry, and Aidan Caitlin Cauley. Catherine was predeceased by sisters Caroline Pouliot and Lenora Regula and brothers Rudolph and Mario Basilone. Catherine loved talking about her heritage and especially having as a third cousin, John Basilone USMC, who received the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross for heroism during the Battle of Iwo Jima. She loved to cook and sew and was very creative. One of her favorite pastimes was going to the beach with her husband, Vinny. The Curran-Jones Funeral Home has been entrusted with her final arrangements. A Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Church, West Springfield, MA will be Friday June 5th at 11am. She will be interned alongside her husband at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association.
