Cecilia (Dooley) Clune: died on January 21 st surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield to the late Charles and Cecilia Dooley. Ceil grew up with her six sisters and two brothers on Roosevelt Ave in Chicopee and had a charmed childhood. A graduate of Holy Name, she went on to receive several degrees in nursing, including her masters. She was a devout catholic and proud Irishwoman who lived in West Springfield for 40 years. Ceil believed in helping others, which was the cornerstone of her life. She received a bone marrow transplant in 1990 at Dana Farber and was given the gift of an extended life for 27 years. Ceil made every year count! She is survived by her loving husband Jay Clune, son Brian Clune, daughter Maura Mitchell and her husband Mike as well as her cherished grandchildren Tommy and Mary. She also leaves behind loyal siblings Peggy Piechota, Charles Dooley, Linda Fay, Mary Sullivan, Cathy Dooley, Ann Marie Dooley, Martin Dooley and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her sister Terry Dooley. Lastly, Ceil leaves behind her entire team at Dana Farber, most especially Dr. Robert Soiffer and Christine Canning. Visiting hours will be held Thursday afternoon from 4-7pm at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Friday at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Chicopee.
