Obituary

Charles R. Baker, 75, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Born in Springfield, son of the late Russell and Helen (Chaclas) Baker, he was a lifelong resident of Agawam where he lived his entire life on one street. He was a 1966 graduate of Agawam High School.  He could often be found looking for deer in the back, or spending time in his garden. Charlie received an Associates Degree from STCC , in Electronics Engineering.  He spent most of his career as a supervisor for area companies, most recently the Goodwill of Western Mass. Charlie was a lifetime member of the Agawam First Baptist Church where he also served on the Board of Trustees, an honorary member of the Mawaga Sportsman Club and on the Board of the Agawam Center Cemetery.  He was an army veteran of the Vietnam War era, serving in Korea. Charlie leaves behind his wife and best friend of fifty-four years, Lorie L. (Hodge) Baker, a son and his wife, Justin C. (Betsy) Baker of Westfield, a daughter and her husband, Joelle L. (Mark) Phillips of Agawam, a sister and her husband, Marjorie (Peter) Borkosky of Agawam, a brother-in-law, Gary Hodge of Yarmouth Port, six beloved grandchildren, Hayley, Ethan, Mason, Carly, Samantha, Joshua, two precious great-grandchildren, Weston and Reese, many nieces and nephews and many lifelong and very close friends. He was pre-deceased by a sister-in-law, Sharon Hodge. All services are private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
