Obituary

Charles B. Barker, 90, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.  Born in Spear Fish, SD, son of the late Orville and Mary (Bryan) Barker, he was a 1953 graduate of Belle Fourche High School in Belle Fourche, SD.  Charles worked in field service at the former Kidder Stacey Printing in Agawam.  He was a sea plane flight instructor for Walt O'Connor and was also in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1954 - 1958.  He was also a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.  He was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Backhaus. He leaves his wife of sixty-six years Frances E. (Rescia) Barker, three sons, Jeffrey D. Barker of Agawam, Frank G. Barker of Utah, Gregory J. Barker of Alaska, eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Calling hours are Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 10-11am at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 11:30. The burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
