Charles A. Camerlin Sr, 86, of West Springfield, passed into eternal life on Thursday, December 8, 2022 surrounded with care and comfort by his loving family and the wonderful Mercy Hospital caregivers. Born April 27, 1936 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the beloved son of the late Eugene and Jeanne Hazel (MacDonald) Camerlin. He had been the Operations Manager for the Springfield Civic Center/Symphony Hall prior to beginning his career with the Hampden County Sheriff's Civil Process Office. After 20 years of service, Major "Chuck" Camerlin retired from the HCSD to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing poker at local casinos and being a Ham Radio Operator, connecting with people all over the world. As an avid student of the martial arts, he earned his 2nd degree Black Belt in HAPKIDO at the age of 57. Blest to be happily married for 41 years, he leaves his best friend and beloved wife, Claire (Lainé) Camerlin; along with his four loving children: Robin (Noel) Jackson, Chuck Jr (Sue), Christopher (Kiki), and Craig; and two loving step-children Sandra (Scott) Cottrell and Michael Brockish of Topeka, Kansas. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his dear sister, Marie Surprenant of Chicopee, his brother Leonard (Trudy) of Burkburnett, Texas, and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family. Chuck was predeceased by his twin brother, Robert "Bob", his brother, Richard "Dick", sisters, Jeanne Roberge and Margaret "Peggy" Brodeur, and his beloved grandson Alex Camerlin. His funeral Mass will be a Celebration of Life at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield, MA on his birthday Thursday April 27, 2023 at 10am.
