Charles Edward Granger
April 07, 1963~September 18, 2021
Charles E. Granger, 58, of New Port Richey, Florida unexpectedly passed away on September 18, 2021. Charles Edward Granger was born on April 7, 1963, son of the late Jerry and Joan Granger. He was a resident of both West Springfield and Agawam MA. He graduated from Agawam High School in 1981. He leaves his siblings and their spouses Christopher & Beverly Granger, John & Nancy Granger, Sandra and Alton (Skip) Grant, Jerrold & the late Helene Granger and Elaina & the late Jack O'Brien. He also leaves his six nieces and nephews and spouses, Leeann Granger and wife Erin Granger, Michael Grant and significant other Tess Jankins, Jennifer Granger Sullivan and husband Benjamin Sullivan, Lindsay Theriaque and husband Allan Theriaque, John Granger and significant other Forest Felter, Jillian Vidanova and husband Sergio Vidanova, and nine great-nieces and nephews, Sandra, Gio, Charlie and Evelyn Vidanova, Taytum and Parker Theriaque, Ashlyn and Colin Granger and one on the way. Charlie had many very dear friends. He leaves his very close friends Diamond Marilyn Gonzalez and Taylor Bennett who he would refer to as his sisters and his many other long-standing friendships. His joys in life were many. In Charlie's younger years he enjoyed a career in cooking and being a chef in several popular local restaurants. He enjoyed cooking for holidays and especially for mom and guests. Other hobbies included motorcycling, target shooting, karate for which he was a black belt, and making moonshine (once living in FL). Charlie especially enjoyed his pet dogs throughout his life. His last being Cagney who still resides in Charlie's community. Charlie aka Chip was employed as a Petroleum Truck Driver with Eagle Transportation Corp out of Tampa FL. Originally from both West Springfield and Agawam MA, he made his way to New Port Richey, FL to help care for his mom and dad. Once in Florida Charlie spent the last 7 years of his life taking care of his father and mother. His father passed in 2015 and Charlie remained in FL to continue to take care of his elderly mother until her passing on September 10, 2021. Charlie passed only eight days after his mother due to a sudden illness. His commitment and love for his mother was above and beyond. It was so very bittersweet to see him pass so shortly after her passing. We were all so sad that Charlie did not have his full life to enjoy his dreams that he would often share with those he was closest to. Charlie will be missed by all that knew him and loved him. The funeral will be Friday at 10am at the West Springfield Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street. The burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery in Springfield.
