West Springfield – Claire Doris (Duplessis) Foley, 89 entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Anselme and Carona (Auger) Duplessis. Claire attended Assumption Elementary School and was a 1947 graduate of Cathedral High School. She worked for N.E. Telephone prior to her marriage to Harold T. Foley Jr. in 1950. They raised their family in West Springfield, where her husband worked as a firefighter. Claire also worked for the West Springfield School Department and was a longtime clerk at the "polls" on election day. She was a member of the St. Thomas Women's Club, taught Religious Education classes for years and was a recipient of the Pope Pius Award. Upon retirement she enjoyed the company of friends and family. Claire and her friends Helen, Esther and Denise were referred by family as the "Golden Girls". She was predeceased by her husband Harold, son Paul, grandson Mathew Erwin, daughter-in-law Diane as well as her sister Theresa Serrasin. She leaves her children Harold Thomas Foley III and his wife Lynne, Luanne Erwin and her husband Ralph; grandchildren Daniel and Johnathan Erwin, Dennis and Gail Foley, Caitlin, Joseph and Avrah Foley as well as her daughter-in-law Lisa. She also leaves her great grandchildren Chelsea, Carlea, Gabrielle, Trent and Madison; a sister Jean McClain and was a beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews of the extended Foley family, in addition to several brother and sisters-in-law both living and deceased. Her final days were spent at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center and the family thanks the staff for their special care. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00pm. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
