Daniel A. Champigny, 78, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 14, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield, son of the late Armand and Hennetta (Hilton) Champigny, he was a lifelong resident of Agawam. Daniel worked as a firefighter for the Town of Agawam from 1966 to 1996, retiring as Badge #1. After his retirement, he worked as a groundskeeper at Crestview Country Club. He was a navy veteran of the Korean conflict, a member of the American Legion Post 185 and the Agawam/West Springfield Fish & Game Club. Daniel was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed doing woodworking. He leaves his wife, Julie A. Nassif, two sons and their wives, Daniel D. and Lisa Champigny of Agawam, John A. and Lisa Champigny of Springfield, a step-son and his wife, Paul E. and Barbara Lussier of Feeding Hills, a brother and his wife, Leodore and Jeanne Champigny of Chester, a sister, Hennetta "Penny" Hardick of Agawam, and four grandchildren, Samuel and Canaan Champigny and Alexis and Delaney Lussier. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10am at the AGAWAM CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7pm.
