1948 –2013

SPRINGFIELD – Daniel Diaz, 65, of Prospect Street died Thursday July 4th at home surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was born in Puerto Rico the son of Gabriela Diaz and the late Herminio Diaz. In 1958 his parents immigrated to Springfield from Puerto Rico, with their nine children and started their own business "Diaz Tropical Products" in the North End of Springfield. Daniel kept the families productivity and acquired Pety's Texaco Station on Main Street, which he owned and operated. A very humble man, he grew up to be well known, respected, and loved by everyone. Danny will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves his partner and best friend of 20 years Evelyn Sanchez; a son Daniel Diaz Jr.; two daughters Erika Diaz and Elizabeth Gonzalez; five brothers Eduvijis, Domingo, Herminio Jr., Pablo and Ramiro; two sisters Libby and Ines Diaz; a granddaughter Daylene "Buster"; Stepchildren Brenda Paez, Gilbert Sanchez and Joel Cintron and eight step grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Pedro. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday at 11 am followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
