Daniel H. Dintzner

1991 – 2019

FEEDING HILLS – Daniel H. Dintzner, 27 died peacefully Wednesday in Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.  Daniel was born in Springfield and was a 9 th generation resident of  Agawam his entire life.  He graduated from Perkin's School for the Blind, accumulating enough academic credits to simultaneously earn an Agawam High School diploma.  He was an honors graduate of STCC (Phi Theta Kappa) and received his Associate's Degree in Business there.  He was currently enrolled at W.N.E.U majoring in accounting.  He was affiliated with the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, a member of the National Federation of the Blind, and most proudly a member of the Perkins School for the Blind Alumni Association.  Daniel lost his best friend Jesse Isabelle while at Perkins and Daniel's essay on that personal loss gained him recognition to be featured in the first Perkins Gala video highlighting a Perkins student.  He had been an honored guest at every Perkins Gala since sometimes acting as a Perkins 'Ambassador' during the fundraising event.  Daniel was extremely well versed in Braille having won the National Braille Readers are Leaders contest three times in his class.  Daniel could not only read English and Spanish, he could do Algebra in Braille, and was only one of very few individuals nationally who could read and write the Grand Staff of Music in Braille.  Daniel leaves his parents Mark R. Dintzner of Agawam and Heidi L. (Birchall) Dintzner also of Agawam; a brother Nathaniel W. Dintzner; two sisters Tabitha C. and Hannah W. Dintzner; his grandmother Dora M. Birchall and his Meme Jeanne C. Dintzner; his uncles James T. Birchall and wife Wendy, Darren L. Birchall and wife Gina, Robert W., Derek A. and Scott Dintzner.  Daniel was predeceased by his paternal grandmother Jeannette A. Dintzner in 1995, both grandfathers, and a baby sister Emily W. Dintzner in 1999. The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Wednesday at 11:30am followed by burial in Springfield Street Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral home service Wednesday from 10:00am – 11:30am.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to Perkins School for the Blind Alumni Association.
