David M. Bowen, 80, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.  Born in Springfield, son of the late Francis and Grace (Farrington) Bowen, he lived in Springfield most of his life and was a 1966 graduate of Cathedral High School.  He also lived in Florida, South America and Pakistan before moving to West Springfield in 2020.  David was and teacher and taught at Chestnut Street Junior High School.  He also taught in Florida, Pakistan and when he came back to the United States, he started teaching in Hartford, CT from 1998 - 2015, and retired from Hartford.   He was in the ROTC at Providence College was a Vietnam Army Veteran and was stationed in Oklahoma and South Carolina. He also attended the University of Massachusetts where he received the equivalent of a Masters Degree in Mathematics.  David was a member of Grace Church in Westfield, did missionary work in South America and was tenth on the soul winning team.  One of David's saying was "Did anyone tell you God loves you today". He was a gracious and generous uncle to his nieces and nephews to whom he referred to them as his "kids". He leaves his wife, Sana (Younas) Bowen, a brother, Francis Bowen, Jr., of Amsterdam, NY, a sister, Barbara Boudreau of East Springfield and nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10am at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield, followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 11.  Calling hours are Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 4-7.
